![]() ![]() The output was basically the same except that the program mangled the OCR on several areas of the text. I then set "ignore" zones to eliminate some of the graphics and text I did not want. I scanned in a flyer that I had that had text and graphics and different orientations. Try as I may, I could not get this function to work properly. The output will contain only the graphic selected which can then be used to create a new document with different text or added graphics, thus maintaining the "look and feel" in promotional materials while delivering a different message. There are many possible uses for this feature for example, if one has promotional material with graphics to be reused in other material, Omni Pro can be set to scan and only capture the selected zone and ignore everything else. It assigns text, table and graphic zone types to all zones and alphanumeric or numeric zone contents to text and table zones. There are text, table, graphic and also process and ignore zones.Īuto-zoning allows the program to detect blocks of text, headings, tables, pictures and other elements on a page and draw zones to enclose them. Zones define areas enclosed by borders drawn over a page image with a background value: process or ignore. These are areas that it detects that may require special handling. Omni Pro can scan documents and detect "zones". I must take exception to Nuance's statement Turn paper documents that would take hours to re-type and layout into perfectly formatted text documents in seconds. If the purpose was to get a usable document that needed little editing as touted, it failed. pdf file to a 46-page Microsoft Word document, the results were only fair. Of course, the AFD must be loaded and the computer must be on at the scheduled time. Use the "Job Wizard" to setup a "batch manager" job that will run unattended at a later time. Any number of setups can be saved for later use and can be automated with an ADF scanner. This rule set is saved in a drop-down menu from the Omni Pro icon in the systems tray. This is a method of creating a set of "rules" for a scanning job that can be saved and used again for other jobs. ![]() I was not able to test this since Omni Pro only outputs this type to an FTP server or a SharePoint server and I don't really have access to either. Per the description, Omni Pro will output an "audio file" such as an audio book. This did not work and gave a cryptic error message that was of no value in solving the problem: Next, I tried to use the tool in the Image pane called "SET" to lighten up a dark photo. I shot several printed documents and one of a page of text on my computer monitor to simulate the screen during a presentation. This works pretty well from the Classic View. It would be nice to have these in editable and searchable format. I add these to my notes for later review. ![]() I often attend various conferences and sit in the front row to shoot pictures of the whiteboard or PPT slides the presenter is showing. The first new feature I tried was to take digital pictures of some documents to see how Omni Pro handled converting them into something more user-friendly. Scan and Convert from a digital photograph I felt the test would be in the new functions added. It will deal with just about anything you can throw at it.Īs I expected, Omni Pro handled "normal" scan duties fine. It had all the needed functions available but allowed more of a "batch process" or "pre-configured" scan to be set up that could be used over and over again.ĭepending on the scanner, Omni Pro supports flatbed, ADF and duplex scans as well as pulling digital files from the computer file system or grabbing a digital picture. The QuickConvert View was more for a "quick and dirty" scan without spending a lot of time doing the set up. The Flexible View worked much the same but with more usable area to work on things such as editing the output The Classic was just that, with a few exceptions much what I was accustomed to I did a few trial runs of some of the features in each UI view: ![]()

![]() ![]() You’ll come out of RS having a significantly larger vocabulary than with Pimsleur (which is limited to about 500 words). Here are Rosetta Stone’s strengths compared with Pimsleur: Rosetta Stone only offers Brazilian Portuguese, so if you’re learning European Portuguese you may want to go with something else. They also offer supplementary products like audio cds and a social website with access to native tutors (which can bring the bill up to $600, quite expensive when you can get a great affordable tutor locally or from StreetSmart Brazil instead). Rosetta Stone comes in two forms, a very expensive software product that you install on your computer, and an online version that is cheaper but requires an internet connection.

![]() Sidetrack: funny story behind that lyric " a hundred years". when you're in love, nothing is too dramatic or overstated. unrelated to twilight, i really liked the idea of the extremity and exaggeration of waiting " a hundred years" for someone. and this lyric sets the tone of the song being written from his edward's perspective. In a literal twilight translation, the character "edward" is over 100 years old in the story, so i liked the nod to that. "i've waited a hundred years, but i'd wait a million more for you" Lyrically, my goal was to subtly include some visuals inspired by the films but at the same time, write a love song that meant something to me first and foremost. (after all, it is a vampire love story!) when i played/found those first few chords of the song, it felt like the right direction so i moved forward with it. within an hour or two or playing around, i found the beginning chords of " turning page." i was looking for something with a sweet tone, but also with a touch of somber in it too. I set up my ipad on my piano and let a couple scenes from "eclipse" play over and over on mute while i played piano over it, to see what worked, what felt right. ![]() it was obvious that the wedding would be up next, and in essence, the entire twilight saga is, at it's heart, a love story. after taking it all in, i did a little research on what was to come next in the story. a few months later, i sat down and gave it a shot and wrote " turning page," my submission for the twilight saga: breaking dawn - part 1.īut before i began writing " turning page" i bought all 3 twilight films on iTunes and watched them for the first time, back to back. In a random conversation early 2011, a close friend of mine gave me the nudge that i needed, suggesting that perhaps i should try to write something for the new twilight movie. in the back of my head i thought it'd sure be amazing to be a part of that incredible list of musicians myself, but for whatever reason (more than likely the fear of not making it in!), i didn't submit anything. they always have incredible, exclusive music and i always looked forward to hearing who was going to be on it next. ![]() ![]() vincent, grizzly bear, iron and wine? come on. I had never seen any of the twilight films previously, or read any of the books, but i have always loved the twilight soundtracks. Although " turning page" was not a part of my " yearbook" project, i wrote it right in the middle of working on my "june" yearbook ep, so as i make my way through all of these yearbook "how it was made" blog posts, it feels appropriate to write about this song now, in the sequence in which it was written. ![]() |
